MINDY’S CHRISTMAS GIVEAWAYS Giveaway #1: Amish Christmas at North Star

Christmastime is upon us, and in addition to the hustle and bustle, this year I’ve been hard at work on a new MindyStarnsClark.com website. It has the same great book information as my older website but with a new look and all sorts of fun and special elements. I do hope you take a few minutes to look around and discover what the site has to offer!

To celebrate my brand new website and also to bring a bit of Christmas cheer, I’m hosting a book giveaway every Wednesday through the end of December! That’s four great books, and four opportunities to win.

This Week's Giveaway

To kick things off,  I wanted to select a book that really reflects this time of year. Between all the shopping, baking, decorating and reflecting on the birth of our King, I find myself getting lost in the pages of Christmas novels. There’s just something so special and comforting about them! They really do bring the season to life in a way that only books can.

Thus I decided to give away one copy of the novella collection Amish Christmas at North Star: Four Stories of Love and Family. My daughter Emily and I wrote our novella together and then joined it with those of three other wonderfully talented authors: Cindy Woodsmall, Amanda Flower, and Katie Ganshert. This collection tells the heartwarming stories of four Amish siblings as they find love and experience the magic of Christmas.

Do the Amish Even Celebrate Christmas?
I hear this question a lot, and the answer is yes, though not to nearly as much excess as many non-Amish do. Most Amish celebrate the basic holy days, including Christmas, with some including Dec. 26th in their celebration as well.

At Christmastime, Amish children may put on a program at school, followed by a gift exchange with their friends. Decorations around the house, if any, are simple and homemade. On Christmas morning, families will share a time of prayer and devotions, and then modest gifts may be exchanged. Christmas dinner is enjoyed that day or the next and often includes friends and extended family members.

When Emily and I penned Amish Christmas at North Star, it was so much fun to write the scenes from Christmas day. It wasn’t difficult at all to imagine being in that Amish home, smelling all the amazing food, hearing the chatter and laughter of loved ones, and peering at the beautiful winter landscape outside.

Don’t miss your chance to win this fun book!
