I hope your Christmas was full of family and friends and fun, and that your New Year is just as incredible. We're capping off this holiday season with one final giveaway. This week's prize is my novel, The Amish Groom (The Men of Lancaster County). Here's about the book: Born to an ex-Amish mother and an Englisch father, 23-year-old Tyler Anderson was raised as a military kid until the age of 6, when his mom passed away. His dad, shipping off to yet another overseas post, placed Tyler in the care of his Amish grandparents, an arrangement that was supposed to be temporary. It lasted a lifetime. Rachel Hoeck is the young woman waiting for Tyler's proposal. She senses that though he loves her and wishes to make a commitment to her and his Amish beliefs, part of him still wonders whether an Amish lifestyle is truly for him. When an opportunity to connect with his father unexpectedly arises, a visit to California causes Tyler to question everything, including a future with Rachel. Will the new girl in his life, Lark, cause him to remain in the Englisch world? Or will he choose to be an Amish groom after all?

Set in Pennsylvania Amish country, The Amish Midwife tells the story of a young
woman’s search for identity and the ability to trust that God securely holds
our whole life―past, present, and future.
In honor of this story, which I co-wrote
with Leslie Gould, and in honor of Amish hospitality and cooking, here are two
delicious Amish recipes, just in time for the holiday season. Best of all,

is upon us, and in addition to the hustle and bustle, this year I’ve been hard
at work on a new MindyStarnsClark.com website. It has the same great book
information as my older website but with a new look and all sorts of fun and
special elements. I do hope you take a few minutes to look around and discover
what the site has to offer!

things off, I wanted to select a book that really reflects this time of
year. Between all the shopping, baking, decorating and reflecting on the birth
of our King, I find myself getting lost in the pages of Christmas novels.

decided to give away one copy of the novella collection Amish Christmas at North Star: Four Stories of Love and
Family. My daughter Emily and I wrote our
novella together and then joined it with those of three other wonderfully
talented authors: Cindy Woodsmall, Amanda Flower, and Katie Ganshert. This
collection tells the heartwarming stories of four Amish siblings as they find
love and experience the magic of Christmas.
Amish Even Celebrate Christmas?
this question a lot, and the answer is yes, though not to nearly as much excess
as many non-Amish do. Most Amish celebrate the basic holy days, including
Christmas, with some including Dec. 26th in their celebration as well.
Christmastime, Amish children may put on a program at school, followed by a
gift exchange with their friends. Decorations around the house, if any, are
simple and homemade. On Christmas morning, families will share a time of prayer
and devotions, and then modest gifts may be exchanged. Christmas dinner is
enjoyed that day or the next and often includes friends and extended family
Emily and I penned Amish Christmas at North Star, it was so much
fun to write the scenes from Christmas day. It wasn’t difficult at all to
imagine being in that Amish home, smelling all the amazing food, hearing the
chatter and laughter of loved ones, and peering at the beautiful winter
